George Clooney will protect his kids from dusk till dawn.
The Ocean's Eleven alum shared how he and wife of 10 years Amal Clooney work hard to keep their 7-year-old twins—daughter Ella and son Alexander—out of the spotlight.
"I don’t want pictures of my kids," George explained to GQ in an interview published Aug. 13. "We deal in very serious subject matters, with very serious bad guys, and we don’t want to have photos of our kids out there."
But the Oscar winner admitted that making sure his kids stay out of the public eye can be "tricky," especially with his level of stardom.
"A lot of people—even who reach a fairly high level of fame—find a way to be able to kind of live a normal life, walk around the streets of New York without being followed and stuff like that," George continued. "And there’s, I dunno, five or six of us where it’s just never subsided."
Noting that he can't walk through Central Park without getting "hammered" with attention, the 63-year-old added, "It just hasn’t happened yet. It will, obviously. But it hasn’t happened yet."
As for how he maintains his family's privacy? It involves carefully weighing how important stepping out in public would be. As George put it, "There’s times you will avoid going to the hospital with something that you would normally go to the hospital for."
He added, "You will assess how bad something is before you go."
And becoming a dad has impacted his lifestyle in other ways as well. Since his little ones have started school, George has reassessed his decision to focus primarily on directing, as the job requires a lot more travel than acting work.
"It is a year on the road to direct, and now my kids are of a certain age," the ER alum explained. "We’re not going to uproot our kids out of school and run around."
Noting that he could bring Ella and Alexander with him when they were younger, he added, "That’s different now. So, now I’m going to just probably focus on other things, like acting."
