A manhunt is underway in New York City after a gunman shot his ex-boss in the Upper West Side and fled into the city's subway tunnels, police said.
A New York Police Department spokesperson said the shooting took place just before 9:20 a.m. at a business on West 68th Street and Columbus Avenue. The corner is where Lincoln Business Machines Inc. is located.
Officers with the 20th Precinct responded to a 911 call after someone told dispatch a 47-year-old man had been shot in his leg and shoulder by an unknown suspect.
The suspect, police said, fled the location "into transit to parts unknown."
A suspect description was not provided by police.
Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital in stable condition, the spokesperson said.
His condition was not immediately known Friday but he was expected to live.

Reports: Person shot in Manhattan was suspect's ex-boss
According to reports from the New York Times and WABC-TV, the suspect was fired sometime before the shooting, confronted his boss and fired at least six shots at the victim.
"My co-worker Santiago, he just came in and saw (the victim) outside just all bloodied up and literally all he wanted to do was open up the store, and yeah, it was horrific," store worker Fabian Barbecho told WABC.
Bart Hopkins, who the same outlet reported works at a wine shop on Columbus Avenue, said the victim had "fixed his computers countless times at Lincoln Business Machines."
"Always found him to be very friendly, very well-mannered person, soft-spoken, I couldn't see anybody holding a grudge against the guy, really," the outlet reported Hopkins said.

Video shows frantic passengers evacuating the subway station where police said the suspect fled into a tunnel.
As of Friday morning no arrest had been made in the case which the spokesperson said remained under investigation.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or Crime Stoppers (Spanish): 888-57-PISTA.
